Success Story of Apple - The Secrets Revealed

The Success Story Of Apple - From a two-man team to world's most valuable company.

Hi there! How ya doing?

Today, we'll see how a company formed in a car garage became what it is today.

Apple's founding fathers
Most people didn't realize that Apple had a bumpy history. It was America's fastest growing company at one point, facing bankruptcy at another, had its technology 'stolen' by its competitors, but emerged as the world's most admired company. (That's perhaps why you are here and why I'm writing this in the first place. Muahah!)

So the big question mark is... How did they do it? Here are the 3 big secrets Apple have up its sleeves that made it so successful.

1) Great Artist Steal!

2) Amazing and never-seen-before Marketing/Ads

3) Keeping it Simple

1) Great Artist Steal

First up, Good artist copy, Great artist steal. This is a quote said by Steve Jobs. What he meant was that Apple had to 'learn' from its rivals. If they did a good job on their product, Apple would model after it and perhaps even better it.

There are many examples of this copycat-like process by Apple.

The company never thought people would want a large, bulky phone in their pockets of their skinny jeans, but having seen the successes of Samsung S2 and S3, Apple came out with the iPhone 5. And guess what? Yup, it had a larger screen with great display. And guess what again, it sure sold like hotcakes.

The company once said that the 7 inch tablet market was not for them. But having seen the successes of Amazon's Kindle Fire and Google's Nexus 7, Apple released The iPad mini. And guess what again. It had a 7.9 inch screen. Many called it the best tablet Apple has ever produced.

Well, the point here is to be innovative, creative and always see what you can learn from those around you! Can you apply this to your business, school or work?

2) Amazing and never-seen-before Marketing/Ads

Apple was known to have unbelievable TV Ads and well-presented product launches especially when the legendary Steve Jobs was still alive. For TV Ads, there was the famous 1984 Super Bowl Ad that rocked the Nation (see below). Its latest Ads like the iPod touch Ad was well received as well.

In terms of product launches, no one else does it better than Steve Jobs. His presentations are well-crafted, and always engaging. Besides an Apple's keynote, do we hear audiences woohh-ing or ahhh-ing? Do we see them giving standing ovations? Seldom. But at an Apple Keynote, the atmosphere is just electrifying.

That's why Apple's so successful.

3) Keep It Simple

Simplifying is in Apple's blood. From its user interface on the iPad to its design of the MacBooks, its noticeably simple. In our complicated and clustered world, perhaps Apple's simplicity makes it stand out. It also makes it easier for users to use. That's good as not everyone is tech-savvy. BUT, simplifying isn't just about reducing, reducing, reducing. It means making difficult, complicated things easy-to-use and yet packed with features.

In Conclusion

So, We have de-mystified Apple's Success Story here and hope it will be useful in whatever you do. Whether is it you work, school or whatever. Have a good time guys, and see you next time!
