Should You Get The New iPad mini? This will help you decide!

The iPad mini:

If you have been trying to figure out whether to get it or not, you've come to the right place. There are dozens of reviews out there, each giving you the Specs of the new iPad mini and their features and blah blah blah. It's just so boring. So, we won't go there.

Are you getting the new Apple device? Let us know and poll on the right side bar.

Today, we'll come up with a few interesting situations to help you decide. Perhaps you might find yourself in one of them. First of all, here's some fun facts on the new Apple device.

1) Screen
It comes with a 7.9-inch display an a screen resolution of 1024x768 (same as the iPad 2)

2) Build
Weight- about 308g
Thickness- 7.2mm

3) Camera
5 Mega pixals iSight camera

4) Processor
A5 Chip

5) Price
$329 (S$402)

Alright, So we've got the specifications out of the way, we shall go into the situations.

1) You always wanted to get into the Apple ecosystem (because of iTunes or the App Store etc) but you find yourself not willing to fork out the money for an iMac or an iPad...

Yes! You should get the iPad mini. It is way cheaper than an iMac and the new iPad. Its is also about $70 cheaper than the iPad 2. After purchasing your iPad mini, you can now download apps like Keynote or iMovies from the App Store and get the best apps made by Apple and their app developers.

2) You just want a mobile device that have a large enough screen size to surf the net and view videos but small enough to be portable...

The iPad mini seems to fit the bill on this one right? Its light, thin and its rather small. Well, actually, there are much better options out there. Google's Nexus 7 is cheaper ($200) and runs on a faster processor then the iPad mini. Also, Amazon's Kindle Fire HD have great content and its much cheaper as well. In this case, its better to choose Apple's competitors

3) You are already using some Apple products (say iPod, iPhone and iMac) and now you would like to have a tablet to bring along with you.

Yes, you should get the iPad mini. What's the point of getting a non-Apple tablet only to realise that you can't get all your files onto it. With iCloud, you can sync all your Apple devices together and thus the iPad mini should be your choice. Moreover, since you already have an iPhone or/and a Mac (which are usually more expensive than their rivals), then you should be prepared to pay more for an Apple product. Price should not be a factor.

4) You like Android's customizability and dislike iOS inflexibility.

This is an important factor and can be used to decide on whether to get Apple products in the first place. If you like Android's customizability then the new iPad mini isn't the device for you. Some uses just like to change themes now and then. If you are one of them, its good to stick to Android.

Conclusion

Deciding whether to get the new iPad mini shouldn't be such a headache if Apple had priced the product cheaper and used a faster processor. But I guess most of the time we can't get the best of both worlds. We are sure the iPad mini will sell like hot cakes but ultimately its your money and your choice.
